A first robot vacuum that still does the floor properly

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S40C vacuums and mops in one pass with up to 5,000Pa of suction. There is no self-emptying dock on this model — you tip out the 520ml dustbin and refill the 260ml water tank yourself — and that is the whole reason it costs $190 instead of $395. If you are happy to do that, it cleans the same floors.

It maps the flat instead of guessing

LDS laser mapping scans the room through 360° and plans straight, methodical passes rather than the random bouncing cheaper robots do. Multi-sensor obstacle detection and anti-fall sensors keep it out of trouble, and it climbs thresholds up to 20mm, so the small step between rooms in most Lebanese flats is not a problem.

Four modes, the app, and your voice

Silent, Standard, Strong and Turbo cover everything from a quiet pass while people are asleep to a proper clean after guests. It runs from the Xiaomi Home app and works with Alexa and Google Assistant, and the water tank has three flow levels so you can go lighter on wood and heavier on tile.

Which of the three is right for you?

• Robot Vacuum S40C — $190 (this one): the sensible starting point. You empty it yourself.
• Robot Vacuum H50 — $395: 10,000Pa, spinning mop pads, and a dock that empties, washes and dries on its own — up to 75 days between bag changes.
• Robot Vacuum H50 Pro — $490: 15,000Pa plus an extendable arm that reaches into corners and along edges.

Delivery and payment

Delivery is $4 inside Beirut and $5 everywhere else in Lebanon. Pay on delivery in cash, or by OMT or Whish — there is nothing to pay online.
